Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on modern warfare and World War II continues with a video on the operation Long Jump - the supposed Nazi plan to assassinate the big three - Roosevelt, Stalin, Churchill in Tehran in 1943. In late 1943, Nazi Germany was reeling from disaster. Stalingrad had destroyed the 6th Army, Kursk had shattered Hitler’s hopes of regaining the initiative, and the Allies were closing in from every direction. Then came the Tehran Conference: the first face-to-face meeting between Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin. According to Soviet intelligence, Hitler approved a secret operation to assassinate the “Big Three” in Tehran. The mission, known as Operation Long Jump, allegedly involved SS commandos, Abwehr agents, parachute drops near Qom, disguises, explosives, and a possible plan to kidnap Roosevelt while killing Stalin and Churchill. But was the plot real? This video investigates the alleged Nazi conspiracy, the role of Otto Skorzeny, the young Soviet agent Gevork Vartanian, Roosevelt’s move into the Soviet embassy, and the claims that Stalin may have exaggerated or fabricated the threat to place the American president under Soviet surveillance.
