LIVE: Charlie Kirk murder case in Utah

A weeklong preliminary hearing for the man accused of killing Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk got underway Monday in a Utah courtroom where prosecutors will present the evidence they have against Tyler Robinson. Robinson, is charged with aggravated murder for the killing of Kirk. Prosecutors have said that during the hearing they plan to introduce forensic analyses, surveillance video, recordings of witness statements, autopsy findings and alleged messages from Robinson admitting to the crime.

The US takes on Belgium tonight in the Round of 16 in Seattle with a quarterfinals spot on the line. Star player Folarin Balogun will be available to play after he received a controversial red card last week in a match against Bosnia and Herzegovina which the U.S. won 2-0. President Donald Trump spoke to reporters Monday on FIFAs decision to let US forward Folarin Balogun play after FIFA reversed their decision to suspend him for receiving a red card in last week's game vs Bosnia and Herzegovina. Trump said he intervened on behalf of forward Folarin Balogun and said it was only fair to let him play.

Funeral services for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei continued Sunday as the United States presses ahead with negotiations aimed at fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. Navy described traffic along the vital waterway as steady but below prewar levels. The threat level, however, remained "substantial" as crews worked to clear mines and survey the strait. Khamenei was killed in the February airstrike that started the war with Iran. No official count of mourners were given, but many carried signs and banners vowing revenge.
