Former Islamic extremist Shohail Ahmed speaks to GB News’ Nick Dunning in a chilling interview about growing up in an abusive extremist household, being radicalised into jihadist ideology, and coming dangerously close to carrying out an attack in Britain.
Ahmed reveals how his parents embraced hardline Salafism, destroyed family photographs, isolated him from non-Muslims and raised him to believe Britain and the West were enemies of Islam. He describes growing up under fear, indoctrination and emotional abuse, while being taught that Muslims were locked in a permanent war with non-Muslims.
As he became more deeply radicalised, Ahmed says he helped spread Islamist ideology to others, considered joining jihadists in Syria, and seriously contemplated carrying out violence in London before pulling himself back from the brink.
Now working in counter-extremism, he warns that anti-Western and separatist beliefs remain widespread within parts of the Muslim community, and argues Britain has failed to confront the scale of the Islamist threat.
