SpaceX rocket debris slams into the moon, creates a crater

Astronomers pointed their telescopes at the moon early Wednesday morning in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the moment a massive piece of space debris crashed into the moon.

Except it wasn't just any debris; it was a huge piece of Falcon 9, a SpaceX rocket that's been drifting in space since delivering a lunar lander in January 2025.

Though the mission itself was a success, the disposal of the vessel obviously was not.
