Wildfires continue to rage across southern Europe, with three firefighters killed battling blazes in Greece. France has recorded more than 14,000 wildfires since the start of the season, burning over 117,000 hectares, though some 84,000 evacuees have now returned home. In Spain, a fresh heatwave is complicating firefighting efforts even after one major blaze was brought under control. Scientists warn climate change is intensifying such fires, with more land burned across the EU this year than at any comparable point on record.
