Khayelitsha residents marched to demand electricity in informal settlements
Residents of ward 99 in Khayelitsha, are calling on government to urgently provide electricity to the informal areas where they live.
Hundreds of community members from Monwabisi and Endlovino have marched to Parliament, demanding service delivery in their areas.
The protest comes after Public Protector, Kholeka Gcaleka, found that the City of Cape Town has not delivered basic services to Langa Flats and Khayelitsha, in line with the law and the Constitution.
Gcaleka's report reveals maladministration, poor sanitation, unsafe housing conditions, and failing infrastructure.
