It's been a full year since we moved up to our property full time! It's been four years since we started building this dream, just during the summer at first, and now living here year-round. We are taking this moment to celebrate and remember the challenges and successes of this past year, from realizing our plans of building a "barndominium" would not come to pass, to making the decision to build a cabin and work like crazy to get it dried in by winter, the polar vortex that froze all work in its tracks and held us in an icy grip for months, to the beautiful and inevitable Spring that released the warmth of the sun on our backs and on our tools! 😅.
It's been a wild ride, but we are here for it and feeling the gratitude of having survived these challenges and grown stronger for it, and are moving ahead with all the projects summer can contain - most importantly, getting to actually move into the cabin! Our dream of building an off grid cabin and homestead in Alaska is coming to fruition, even if it isn't the way we'd initially planned. Every day we are blessed with the sights and sounds of the beautiful forest, the birds, the flowers, and the knowledge that we are a part of this landscape.
