Man arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with death of Ann Widdecombe

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of Ann Widdecombe.

Assistant Chief Constable Matt Longman said: "We can confirm that a 26-year-old man was arrested at an address in Newton Abbot this afternoon on suspicion of the murder of Ann Widdicombe.

"The suspect, who is a white British national, remains in police custody whilst enquiries continue."

The incident is not being treated as terrorism, the assistant chief constable added.
