US Marines boarded the vessel M/T Wen Yao in the Gulf of Oman as part of Washington's renewed naval blockade targeting Iranian maritime trade. According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the boarding was conducted to ensure compliance with the blockade and followed the redirection of three commercial vessels attempting to transit restricted waters. The operation comes amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran after days of reciprocal military strikes across the Gulf. The expanded maritime enforcement campaign is aimed at tightening pressure on Tehran's shipping network, raising concerns over commercial navigation, energy supplies and the security of key sea lanes near the Strait of Hormuz.
