Ukraine is expanding its defense capabilities as Kyiv secures new military cooperation with France and European partners. During President Zelenskyy’s visit to Paris, France announced plans to grant Ukraine licenses to produce advanced weapons, including SCALP long-range cruise missiles, while also providing the new Franco-Italian SAMP/T NG air defense systems designed to counter ballistic missiles and 16 Rafale fighter jets as early as 2028–2029.
Ukraine is also set to launch a European-backed Anti-Ballistic Missile coalition to develop its first ballistic interceptor missile Freya, as Kyiv moves closer to deeper integration with the EU’s defense industry.
