Russia-Ukraine war: At least 9 dead, two dozen injured in 2nd consecutive barrage on Kyiv

At least nine people are dead following another deadly bombardment of Kyiv overnight.

Russian ballistic missiles injured more than two dozen people Saturday in the Ukrainian capital, marking the second major aerial assault on the city in two days.

Of the 27 missiles launched, only one was intercepted, according to Ukrainian officials. Russia's Defence Ministry said the strikes targeted military facilities in Kyiv.

The aerial onslaught comes as Ukraine faces a shortage of American-made Patriot missiles, which help intercept such attacks — ammunition U.S. President Donald Trump rejected handing over Friday during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"This is a country [Russia] that is committing genocide and is essentially waging war against the Ukrainian people,” a local impacted by the attack said. “Its aim is to destroy and wear us down, so that we will submit to them and surrender… But they may well give up, because that will never happen,” they added.
