Kekana challenges police evidence in Matlala trial

The alleged hitman in the attempted murder trial of Vusimuzi Matlala and four others has accused police of assaulting and torturing him during his 2024 arrest.

Musa Kekana is on trial in the High Court in Johannesburg with Matlala, Tsakani Matlala, Tiego Mabusela and Nthabiseng Nzama.

They are charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder, relating to the shooting of businessman Joe Sibanyoni, music producer Seunkie Mokubung, and Matlala's former partner, Tebogo Thobejane.

The court is hearing a trial-within-a-trial, in which Kekana is challenging the use of the evidence police obtained when he was arrested.
