'Not credible': Senior Tory hits out at French explanation after warship 'fired shots' near him

Chris Philp has suggested a French warship was trying to "intimidate" him by firing "live rounds" while he was on a boat in the English Channel.

He has also accused the French of firing "live rounds to defend their waters against a visiting British politician".

In a statement, the Prefecture maritime Manche mer du Nord said French Navy units "conduct regular training exercises" and that "individual combat training is part of the normal activities of a vessel on operations".
