A migrant boat has launched from the furthest point ever in an attempt to cross the English Channel while Border Force rushes to intercept. The ambitious journey began from Fecamp, meaning the journey ahead of the migrants aboard is 70-miles-long. However, the standard distance usually taken by illegal arrivals, from Dover to Calais, is only 27 miles. The last record for the longest distance travelled by a dinghy was back on May 26, when a migrant boat was spotted after it launched off the shore south of the port of Dieppe in Normandy early in the morning.
