Congress MP Shashi Tharoor spoke during the Lok Sabha debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, saying the issue goes beyond paper leaks and is about preserving young Indians' faith in merit and fairness.
Tharoor said, "The integrity of our public examinations is about whether a young Indian can still believe that hard work will be rewarded fairly." Rejecting what he called "infantile whataboutery" over which party oversaw more paper leaks, he argued that "the system is broken, and we must fix it."
