Sir Keir Starmer finished his last answer at PMQs by saying "this is the end of my political journey".

He was responding to an emotional question from Carolyn Harris, one of his strongest backers and friends.

As he left the Commons, Labour MPs stood to give him applause - something that is not strictly allowed.
