Iran has welcomed the Houthis’ reported seizure of Yemen’s Mayyun Island and their growing control around the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a vital shipping route connecting Europe and Asia.

Mohammad Mokhber, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, praised the Iran-backed group’s advance along Yemen’s Red Sea coast as a “resounding victory.” In a post on X, he claimed Iran’s position in the Strait of Hormuz and what he called the resistance’s “homegrown resolve” had pushed the United States and its allies into a tactical and strategic deadlock.
