Attendance at the Western Wall to recite “selihot”, or “prayers of penitence”, forty days before Yom Kippur has broken all records once again this year. Among the faithful are many young people not necessarily from Jewish orthodox backgrounds, but are part of a trend that is part religious, part driven by identity.
