Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has fired back at Donald Trump after the U.S. president signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario “Lake America.” Carney pointed to the lake’s more than 400-year-old Indigenous origins, saying its name comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io and predates both Canadian Confederation and the birth of the United States.
