Iran has issued a chilling warning to its Gulf neighbors as the United States prepares to intensify economic pressure on Tehran. Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary has warned that countries joining Washington's economic campaign could be treated as enemies and face retaliation.

The warning comes after the Trump administration announced plans to increase economic pressure and isolate Iran by targeting foreign banks, companies and governments that continue doing business with Tehran.

Iran has warned neighboring countries against participating in the US campaign, with its leadership threatening what it described as a “seismic” response to further pressure.
