Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has sharply criticised Israel’s current security and diplomatic strategy, warning that the country has reached a historic low in its international standing. Speaking in Tel Aviv, Bennett said Israel had “lost the United States” and the wider world, while arguing that the October 7 attack exposed deeper failures in the country’s security doctrine. He also criticised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government over its acceptance of U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan and strongly opposed any path toward Palestinian statehood. Bennett further described Qatar as an enemy and questioned its potential role in Gaza’s future. He called for renewed regional alliances, including closer ties with Saudi Arabia, while insisting Israel maintain responsibility for its own security.
