Iran is putting Israel at the center of the standoff over its ceasefire understanding with the United States. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused Israel of being the biggest obstacle to both reaching the agreement and putting it into effect. According to Araghchi, Israel repeatedly tried to prevent the memorandum of understanding from being finalized and later worked to undermine its implementation. His remarks add a fresh layer to an already tense U.S.-Iran diplomatic process, with disagreements over security guarantees, sanctions and the Strait of Hormuz continuing to complicate negotiations. Tehran maintains that the agreement can move forward if efforts to undermine it are stopped.
