The government has confirmed plans to house up to 1,200 asylum seekers across three disused military sites, including a site near Linton-on-Ouse. Residents have raised concerns about the proximity of the proposed accommodation to local facilities, with the village primary school reportedly just 500 metres from the base.

Professor Olga Matthias, spokesperson for the Linton-on-Ouse Action Group, discusses the plans and the concerns being raised by people living in the village. She says the proposed site is “at the heart of the village” and questions the impact that housing large numbers of asylum seekers in a small community could have on local residents, families and children.
