After more than two decades of military presence, the United States is expected to complete its withdrawal from Iraq by September 30, according to reports. The move would end a mission that began with the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has called September 30 the "fixed and final date" for ending the U.S.-led coalition's military mission and completing the withdrawal of American forces. The announcement comes as the U.S. remains engaged in heightened tensions across the Middle East, including its confrontation with Iran.
