This JCS inspired true crime documentary looks at a real life horror story of a serial killer who thought he'd gotten away with murder for more than 30 years.
The disturbing true crime story begins in 1983, when police discover the body of 17-year-old Laurie between two sets of railroad tracks.
She has been assaulted, strangled, and has blunt-force trauma to her head. There's also evidence that she was dragged to the location while she was unconscious.
Police launch a homicide investigation - and start piecing together Laurie's final hours.
Investigators theorize that Laurie was attacked on her way home after a party the night before.
Detectives conduct a series of full police interviews; but, with no solid leads, this real life murder mystery goes cold for 30 years.
Then, in 2013, a cold case team working this shocking true crime case sends a sample of the killer's semen collected from Laurie's body to the lab for testing.
Investigators get a DNA sample that they then compare to other cases... and get a hit.
In 1988, a woman had survived an assault where she was strangled and attacked with a sharp object.
DNA from her case was later matched to Darrell - a serial rapist and suspected serial killer.
Detectives arrest Darrell and bring him in for a full police interrogation about what happened to Laurie.
