Vladimir Putin met deputies of Russia's 8th State Duma as their five-year parliamentary term came to an end.
State decorations were presented to senior lawmakers, including State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, recognizing their legislative work during one of Russia's most consequential political periods.
Putin praised Parliament's cross-party unity, saying lawmakers worked together to support Russia's Special Military Operation (SMO), strengthen national sovereignty and pass key wartime legislation.

Looking ahead to September's parliamentary elections, Putin urged lawmakers to remain connected with voters, preserve political unity, and continue pursuing Russia's long-term national goals.
During his closing remarks, Putin also addressed Russia's military strategy, saying Moscow would continue pursuing its objectives "carefully, persistently and consistently."
