An ongoing Ontario MPP expense scandal has expanded after new records revealed constituency associations billed thousands of dollars for stays at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Yorkville, Florida golf club meals, and sushi-rolling courses. CTV's Jon Woodward reports that Associate Minister Charmaine Williams billed $16,000 for accommodations to her constituency association, while Ontario Liberal interim leader John Fraser compares the growing scrutiny to "peeling an onion" as more expenses come to light. At the same time, communications director Michel Figueredo defended the bills from Labour Minister David Piccini, which include $541 for meals at a Florida golf club and $1,840 for sushi-rolling courses at Roll This Way, stating they were events to thank volunteers and board members. The backlash comes after the premier eliminated the hotel expense provision and ordered a dozen MPPs to repay funds, while Brampton East MPP Hardeep Grewal now faces a new Elections Ontario finance complaint over undeclared advertising in a family-owned newspaper.
