Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed attacks on Aramco facilities in the Saudi cities of Jizan and Yanbu on Saturday, as fears of a renewed war in Yemen escalated.
Recent attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure and shipping in the Bab Al Mandeb strait – the gateway to the Red Sea – have tested the kingdom and Yemen's internationally recognised government. Houthis said "In response to this blatant criminal aggression, the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out two special military operations. The first targeted sensitive facilities belonging to Saudi Aramco in Jizan using dozens of ballistic missiles and drones. The second targeted sensitive facilities belonging to Saudi Aramco in Yanbu using a number of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones. Both operations successfully achieved their objectives, with the strikes described as accurate and direct".
