Why Greenland's melting ice sheet could plunge the UK into -20°C winters

Winters in the UK could plunge to -20C if a vital ocean current is affected by climate change, scientists are warning.

There are growing fears that the heating of the planet is causing the melting of a massive ice sheet in Greenland. And that in turn is changing the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), a vital ocean current that keeps our winters relatively warm and summers temperate.

Tom Clarke joined a team of scientists who are monitoring the ice in Greenland and listened to their concerns.
