I return to GTA 5 speedrunning and begin relearning Trevor%, a short but extremely precise category filled with modern skips, frame-sensitive setups, dialogue manipulation, brake boosts, mission warps and strategies that did not exist when I originally ran the game. What starts as a supposedly simple practice session quickly becomes a catalogue of missed shots, terrible traffic, failed dialogue skips, broken inputs, bizarre Lamar behaviour and mistakes measured in individual frames, but every failed attempt teaches me another way the run can go wrong. Despite losing huge amounts of time, I begin putting the route back together, save minutes across several segments and nearly finish below one hour while proving that the reports of my speedrunning retirement were greatly exaggerated.
