Russia launched a major retaliatory strike on Ukraine on Monday night, describing it as a response to Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure. The Russian Defence Ministry reported shooting down more than 600 Ukrainian drones across the country that same day. Ukraine has also struck the Omsk oil refinery in Western Siberia, some 2,500 kilometres from the border — one of Russia's 11 largest petrol producers and the last major refinery not previously hit. The attacks have deepened Russia's ongoing fuel crisis, with the Russian military warning of further strikes on Ukraine.
