German police clashed with left-wing activists protesting the AfD's party congress | DW News

Thousands of demonstrators descended on the city of Erfurt in eastern Germany to protest against the party congress of the far-right Alternative for Germany, or AfD. The party is currently leading all other parties in opinion polls and looks set to win key regional elections that could see them take state-level power for the first time.
