An Ottawa apartment building on McEwan Avenue remains without power days after a record-breaking Canada Day storm triggered severe flash flooding. CTV's Natalie van Rooy reports that the flooding completely filled the basement of the Park West apartment building, causing the power system vault to blow; members of the local Venezuelan-Canadian community gathered at a church in Gatineau for a solemn mass and candlelight vigil to honor the thousands of lives lost in recent disasters. CTV's Kimberley Johnson reports that the local gathering is part of a coordinated effort to unite the community in grief and recovery action; and nearly 250 young athletes flooded the Hornets Nest this weekend to compete in the Gloucester Hornets Cup amid a massive wave of soccer enthusiasm. The tournament kicked off just one day after Canada's men's national soccer team concluded its historic World Cup run in the Round of 16.
