Iran drone strike failed: U.S. military retaliates with island strikes | FOX 10 Phoenix

Iranian missiles and drones targeted U.S. forces in Kuwait in a new round of attacks, according to U.S. Central Command. Air defenses successfully downed multiple drones, ensuring no American personnel or assets were harmed. In response, U.S. forces in the region conducted self-defense strikes on Iran's strategic Qeshm Island and targeted a ship's engine room as part of a blockade of Iranian ports.

On Capitol Hill, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the administration against attacks from Democrats regarding the war and future plans. Senator Cory Booker criticized the current strategy, stating, "We are the strongest nation on the planet Earth, and we're in a stalemate with Iran. And now we're begging to get back into a deal that you all trashed in the first place." Rubio pushed back against the characterization, responding, "There's no one begging."

President Donald Trump maintains that talks with Iran are still underway despite contradictory reports. While Trump claims a deal is close, Rubio noted that communications with the regime are difficult. Rubio explained the situation by saying, "And this is why you see reporting about there might be a deal in the next few days because internally it takes time to get responses from them, sometimes upwards to 5 or 6 days."
