Donald Trump has announced a deal with Denmark giving the United States "permanent control" in Greenland.

The US President confirmed that Washington will ramp up a "large military presence" in the newly claimed territory.

Following discussions with both nations, Mr Trump said the US would have the total ability to control Greenland's security "forever".
