Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi says his forces are acting defensively in the latest round of conflict in Yemen, accusing Saudi Arabia of initiating the escalation.
In an address, al-Houthi said Houthi forces are targeting Saudi military sites and oil infrastructure while acting according to what he described as Islamic and ethical principles.
He accused Saudi-led forces of carrying out indiscriminate attacks in Yemen during the more than decade-long conflict, including strikes on homes and marketplaces. Al-Houthi also condemned what he called a “siege” restricting the import of food and medicine into Yemen.
