The 2026 F1 cars - as complicated as they are - looked comfortably at home on the tight Monte-Carlo street circuit on Friday, allowing the drivers to focus on the best things F1 can engender - on braking, turn-in, power application and, yes - even on a Friday - track craft. And it was that classic of drivers on this most classic of circuits - Sir Lewis Hamilton - who topped the times for Ferrari. His team-mate and local hero, Charles Leclerc, was right there with him and in third place came Red Bull's Max Verstappen. What a trio. The factory Mercedes finished Friday P4-P5 but it was a difficult day for McLaren-Mercedes, with Lando Norris stopping out on the circuit after a power shut-down and Oscar Piastri finishing only P7, just behind Isack Hadjar in the other Red Bull.
