Superpower summit coverage relegated by Trump media row

President Donald Trump welcomed China’s President Xi Jinping to the White House for the first Chinese state visit in more than a decade. The two leaders met behind closed doors after striking markedly different tones in public.

The summit was also overshadowed by a dispute over media access, as news organisations challenged the administration’s decision to bar three outlets from covering the visit. The journalists were later allowed back in following a court order.
