Nigel Farage says he is disappointed with Reform UK’s defeat in Makerfield after Andy Burnham crushed his candidate by more than 9,000 votes. Farage claimed voters backed Burnham because they saw him as the best way to force Keir Starmer out, while also admitting Rupert Lowe’s Restore Britain took enough Right-wing votes to hurt Reform. Burnham’s big win now puts him firmly on course for a Labour leadership challenge, while Farage is left warning Right-wing voters not to split the vote again. The result is a serious setback for Reform’s attempt to present itself as Labour’s main challenger.
