Why China & US actually need each other | Fareed’s Take

As the summit last week demonstrated, Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping are searching for ways to work together despite the growing rivalry between the two countries.

They might take a look at a striking, somewhat unnoticed case of quiet cooperation involving American and Chinese technologies. By now, the world has heard about the Hugging Face attack in July, in which OpenAI agents broke into Hugging Face, a leading American AI platform. Hugging Face couldn’t find an American AI model able to investigate, but a Chinese model could.

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria gives his take on the ways China and the US are better served by a relationship of managed interdependence rather than weaponized interdependence.
