Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is mocking the United States over a new Congressional Research Service report listing 81 U.S. military aircraft reportedly lost or damaged during operations against Iran. Araghchi claims the real toll is even higher and questions why CENTCOM has not allowed a sitting senator to inspect U.S. bases.
The CRS report lists 45 MQ-9 Reaper drones, MQ-4C Triton and MQ-1 unmanned aircraft, AH-64 Apache, AH-6 Little Bird helicopters and an MH-60 Seahawk among the reported losses or damage. The Congressional Budget Office has also estimated equipment replacement costs of between $1.9 billion and $3.3 billion as of August 1.
