Trump is putting Europe under fresh pressure as the US races to bring down fuel prices ahead of the November midterm elections. Washington has reportedly urged Germany and France to release emergency diesel reserves, with one source claiming the EU was asked to release up to 120 million barrels over six months.
The pressure comes as global diesel supplies face disruptions linked to the Iran war, attacks on Russian refineries and reduced Chinese exports. The Trump administration is also considering a possible US diesel export ban if fuel prices remain elevated.
