Iran claims it has shot down another U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone over Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, as fresh reports point to additional U.S. drone losses during the continuing conflict.
According to CBS News, at least two U.S. military drones from the MQ-1 family were reportedly downed by Iranian forces, citing unnamed U.S. officials. The reported losses come as a Congressional Budget Office report indicates that 24 MQ-9 Reaper drones have been lost since March.
Meanwhile, Iran's IRGC claims the Qeshm Island shootdown was the 53rd U.S. MQ-9 brought down during the conflict. That figure has not been independently verified.
