'WARSHIPS ATTACKED': Iran Unleashes New Missile In Hormuz, US Navy Destroyers 'Under Fire'

Iran has dramatically escalated its confrontation with the United States, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claiming it targeted two U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers — USS John Paul Jones (DDG-53) and USS Delbert D. Black (DDG-119) — in the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC says the operation was carried out in retaliation for alleged U.S. attacks on Iranian oil tankers and vessels. Tehran also claims it targeted eight oil tankers and additional ships accused of entering a restricted area of the strategically vital waterway.

The claims have not been independently verified, but they come as Iran emphasizes that its military preparations for defending the Strait of Hormuz are the result of decades of strategic planning. Iranian official Esmail Kosari says the country's military and IRGC have maintained defensive plans and operational responses dating back to the final years of the Iran-Iraq War.
