Iran accused the United States of creating instability in the region. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said, "The insecurity that America has imposed on the region must be resolved by America itself" by ending what he described as aggressive actions, economic sanctions and naval blockades. On the Strait of Hormuz, Baqaei said Iran is in the final stage of negotiations with Oman over a temporary navigation arrangement in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most strategically important maritime chokepoints. Baqaei said the proposed framework includes establishing a joint temporary shipping lane through the Strait of Hormuz and launching a joint mine-clearing project. According to Iran, the understanding with Oman could be registered with the International Maritime Organisation in the coming days.
