This week, narrowboat life takes me across one of the most spectacular pieces of canal engineering in the world — the incredible Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, otherwise known as the Stream in the Sky! 🏴☠️
After waiting for the traffic to clear, I take the Jolly Roger across the 126ft-high aqueduct before mooring up on the other side for some of the slightly less glamorous realities of boat life… emptying toilet cassettes, getting rid of rubbish and generally living the dream. 😂
I'm joined by friends who are also thinking about buying a campervan, so we head off for a little van shopping — although unfortunately the ones we find are rather more suited to somebody else's bank balance!
Then it's off to the pub, where after cruising across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct several times over the years, we decide it's probably about time we actually learned how to pronounce it properly. 🍺😂
But there's another reason campervans have been on my mind…
I've recently sold my trusty 26-year-old van and have been looking for something slightly bigger.
And just one day later… things take a rather unexpected turn. 😬
Before I know it, there's a new (old!) adventure wagon in my life and it's straight off to a festival with friends for its baptism of fire — testing everything out, discovering what works, what needs changing and, of course, dancing the night away.
There's narrowboat cruising, one VERY high aqueduct, campervans, questionable Welsh pronunciation, festival antics, boat cooking and the possibility of food poisoning.
Just another perfectly normal week aboard the Jolly Roger. 😂🏴☠️
