After deliberating for just one hour, a jury found 30-year-old Katelyn Goble **guilty on all five counts** on August 31, 2026, in connection with the murder of Morgan Bauer:
* Malice Murder
* Felony Murder
* Aggravated Assault
* Tampering with Evidence
* Concealing the Death of Another
Goble now returns to court for her sentencing hearing.
In February 2016, 19-year-old Morgan Bauer moved from South Dakota to Gainesville, Georgia, looking for a fresh start. She met Goble, and the two began trying to make a living as exotic dancers. On February 25, 2016, Morgan vanished.
Prosecutors said Goble and her then-boyfriend, Jonathan Alexander Warren, killed Morgan before mutilating, beheading and dismembering her body over the following days.
Morgan remained missing for more than seven years. In 2023, investigators were led to a property in Porterdale, Georgia, where her remains were recovered.
Goble was arrested in Peoria, Illinois, on August 3, 2023. Warren was arrested in Los Angeles two days later. In 2024, Warren pleaded guilty to malice murder, tampering with evidence, concealing the death of another and necrophilia. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
At trial, Goble’s defense maintained that Warren killed Morgan while Goble was out of the room. Her attorneys argued that a frightened 19-year-old Goble became involved only afterward in the horrific effort to dispose of Morgan’s body.
Prosecutors argued that Goble was an active participant in Morgan’s killing and introduced evidence concerning her fascination with death, murder and macabre imagery.
In one of the case’s biggest twists, Goble eventually provided investigators with information that helped uncover what happened to Morgan and led authorities to her remains. Despite that cooperation, the jury rejected her defense and found her guilty as charged.
