The Pacific has never been this hot in August, hotter than it was at this point in 1997 or 2015, and it's already changing the weather. The Atlantic has zero hurricanes two weeks from the peak of the season, the Pacific keeps pumping out storms with Lowell headed toward Hawaii, and on land the heat dome that cooked Texas all summer slides onto the Mississippi and Ohio Valleys this week. St. Louis hasn't hit 100 all year and the forecast says 100 Tuesday and Wednesday. Severe storms are on the map for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Wednesday. And the September outlook has the Midwest and Ohio Valley as the one place not favored to run warm, partly because of El Niño. The winter forecast video is coming in a few days.
