My 600lb Life is one of TLC's biggest success stories, & when it premiered on Feb 1st 2012 no one expected it to become the huge success for the network it became. Dr Now & My 600lb Life has become a source of fascination & inspiration for its viewers, but also a world wide spectacle, & there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes than most of it’s viewers know. Most of the shows viewers are unaware there's a lot more than weight loss happening during the filming of My 600lb Life & the follow up show Where are They Now?, including lawsuits, over half a dozen cast members passing away, multiple alleged items left inside patients after operations & some of the most graphic scenes on television. And when looking into it’s biggest star, Dr Now, his behaviour lost him a fortune just prior to the show.

On the surface, My 600lb Life can be a feel good show where patients receive desperately needed medical care that changes their lives, but according to several former cast members, not only did My 600lb Life not help them, but it made their life worse. The shows production company has faced many lawsuits over recent years from former participants who claim they were lied to & manipulated, & the show has also received a lot of criticism from countless other doctors & medical professionals.
