SERBIA REJECTS ZELENSKY: Protesters CALL His Belgrade Visit 'Pure Betrayal', Wave Putin Banners

Serbian protesters gathered outside the presidential palace in Belgrade on Saturday to demonstrate against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's first official visit to Serbia, holding anti-Zelensky placards, banners depicting Russian President Vladimir Putin, and signs accusing Zelensky of killing his own citizens in Donbass, with demonstrators calling for fresh Ukrainian elections. Protest leader Nebojsa Corovic, president of the We Strength of the People movement, described the visit as simply unacceptable for the Serbian people, who share what he called a long tradition with the Russian people, and characterised Zelensky's presence in Belgrade as a pure betrayal of those ties. Vladan Obradovic, co-founder of the Serbs for Russians Telegram channel and chairman of the Saint Sava Obraz movement, called the visit a real disgrace for Serbian patriots and declared that the only President Vladimir the Serbian people support is the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Zelensky arrived in Belgrade on Friday for the visit, which Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's office announced late Thursday, with Vucic stating the two leaders would discuss their respective countries' European Union membership bids while explicitly stressing that Serbia would not alter its longstanding refusal to join international sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine war.
